Background

This gene encodes a member of the NF-kappa-B inhibitor family, which contain multiple ankrin repeat domains. The encoded protein interacts with REL dimers to inhibit NF-kappa-B/REL complexes which are involved in inflammatory responses. The encoded protein moves between the cytoplasm and the nucleus via a nuclear localization signal and CRM1-mediated nuclear export. Mutations in this gene have been found in ectodermal dysplasia anhidrotic with T-cell immunodeficiency autosomal dominant disease.

	Western blotting analysis using anti-NFKB inhibitor alpha antibody (Cat#63464). Total cell lysates (30 μg) from various cell lines were loaded and separated by SDS-PAGE. The blot was incubated with anti-NFKB inhibitor alpha antibody (Cat#63464, 1:5,000) and HRP-conjugated goat anti-mouse secondary antibody (Cat#101, 1:20,000) respectively. 	Immunocytochemical staining of HepG2 cells with anti-NFKB inhibitor alpha antibody (Cat#63464, 1:1,000). Nuclei were stained blue with DAPI; NFKB inhibitor alpha was stained magenta with Alexa Fluor® 647. Images were taken using Leica stellaris 5. Protein abundance based on laser Intensity and Smart Gain:Low. Scale bar, 20 μm.
