Background

Interaction of Fas ligand (TNFSF6) with the FAS antigen (TNFRSF6) mediates programmed cell death, also called apoptosis, in a number of organ systems. The protein encoded by this gene binds to FAS antigen and can initiate apoptosis or enhance apoptosis initiated through FAS antigen. Initiation of apoptosis by the protein encoded by this gene requires a ubiquitin-like domain but not the FAS-binding domain.

	Western blotting analysis using anti-fas associated factor 1 antibody (Cat#63863). Total cell lysates (30 μg) from various cell lines were loaded and separated by SDS-PAGE. The blot was incubated with anti-fas associated factor 1 antibody (Cat#63863, 1:2,500) and HRP-conjugated goat anti-mouse secondary antibody (Cat#101, 1:20,000) respectively. Nuclei were stained blue with DAPI; Fas associated factor 1 was stained magenta with Alexa Fluor® 647. Images were taken using Leica stellaris 5.
